Chapters
▶ How do I find a list of local Chapters?
You can find a listing of current Chapter locations on the thirstygirl.com website under “Chapters” from the main menu, and find TG Chapter Facebook pages on the main TG Facebook page via the “Chapters” tab on the left side bar.▶ Who can run a Chapter / be a Chapter Head?
Any Thirsty Girl can start and manage a Chapter, and we recommend (strongly) against doing it alone. It’s always best to have 2-3 people running a Chapter. This way when life gets busy – which it will – your support Chapter Helpers can step in and keep the Chapter going. We’ve found that it’s often difficult to rebuild momentum in a group once it’s lost, so having regular and consistent meetings or events is a good way to keep the group going.▶ What size does our Chapter need be?
Size is up to you, just as the type and frequency of events is up to you. If you get close to the 100-member range, talk to us about managing your Chapter for larger events (Kristen Kuhns kristen.kuhns@nullthirstygirl.com). Just remember that all Thirsty Girl members need to be at least 21 (twenty-one) years of age.▶ How often does our Chapter need to meet?
Frequency of events is up to you. Some Chapters meet weekly over lunch or happy hour, others meet monthly, and some meet quarterly. We recommend meeting at least once a quarter or the momentum is hard to maintain.▶ Can there be more than 1 Chapter in a geographic area?
Yes. There are a few things to keep in mind here. First, there is power in numbers. The more members a Chapter has (in one large group vs. small(er) group(s)) it’s easier to increase attendance at events and also find people to help you plan and run events. But smaller groups are more than welcome as well, especially if the existing Chapter does not meet your needs.▶ I signed up to be a Chapter Head, what do I do now?
First, please review your new Membership Handbook as well as the Chapter Head Handbook. There is a ton of useful information about getting your Chapter started and a great overview on everything else you may need to know about being a Chapter Head. You can find PDFs of this handbook on thirstygirl.com under the “Chapters” section.▶ Thirsty Girl put up my Local Chapter* Facebook page. How do I activate it and make it my chapter Facebook page?
It’s easy. First, all you need to do is “friend” Thirsty Girl Gail Spangler who is the main admin for all Local Chapter pages for Thirsty Girl HQ so she can make YOU the admin of your own page. From there, you can go in and make it your own, using your current Facebook account and password.
*This doesn't give us access to your account or information; it only allows you to add fun stuff from TG.▶ How do I communicate with Chapter members as their Chapter Head?
Through the Thirsty Girl website. Each Chapter will have its members as part of the Chapter group and you may message them securely through the website.
Note that we do not sell or rent our user lists to anyone and any member that abuses the privilege of contacting members for any type of harassment, insults, selling outside general networking, etc. may be removed from the Thirsty Girl community.▶ Can we collect money for charity?
Thirsty Girl believes that giving back to the community is a wonderful thing and encourages this behavior. TG works with a couple of different official non-profits, but we also encourage your Chapter and members to support local charities. Please be sure that the charity is an officially registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit or 501(c)6 organization and that the mission of the organization is not offensive to other members of Thirsty Girl. In other words we request that your Chapter not support religious, political or other potentially divisive entities that could offend or make other TG members uncomfortable or does not align with our overall mission of building community and women helping women.
You can look up the validity of registered non-profits at http://www.charitynavigator.org/▶ Can we require pre-registration and/or charge for events?
You can use any event registration system such as Evite or Eventbrite to ask for pre-registration for events, especially if trying to plan for food and drinks. We do not recommend requiring pre-registration unless it’s for an event where third party tickets have to be pre-purchased (such as a show or conference). Collecting money also adds another layer of management to an event, so what we have found works well is to have people who attend an event pay the proprietor directly. For example, if you have a wine tasting and dinner for $30 at a local restaurant, everyone can pay the restaurant directly at the event.▶ What types of events does our Chapter need to put on?
Every month we choose a “theme” that includes a tasting lesson that you use to guide you. This may include a video from Leslie that you can choose to download and watch and/or follow along, a tasting mat, and information and suggestions about drinks, pairings and other related items. Host a party in your home, go to a local winery or restaurant, take in a show, go to a movie, a shopping spree, or take a weekend getaway to explore local venues. In other words, you can put together any type of event that suits your Chapter.▶ Is Thirsty Girl only about wine?
In short, no. ThirstyGirl is about life and libations. ThirstyGirl is about spirits, wines, education, food, travel, and the lifestyle that accompanies the finer things in life such as these. Remember our motto: Life, Drink it up!▶ How can I get my friends involved in Thirsty Girl?

Gail Spangler (Gail@nullthirstygirl.com) is you main contact for any TG related questions such as Sponsors, Site information or other questions, or you may contact Kristen Kuhns for any Member or Chapter related questions kristen.kuhns@nullthirstygirl.com▶ What do I need to do if I have to close my Chapter?
First we encourage you to pass the baton to other TG member(s) who’d be willing to step in and take over running the Chapter. If that is not an option, just contact us about the exit strategy per Chapter.
Rewards
▶ Is there any purchase necessary to earn rewards in the Rewards Program?
No. Rewards are earned through actions online such as “liking” ThirstyGirl on Facebook, following @beathirstygirl on Twitter, and other actions. Look for the “Rewards” ribbon on the site to find out more about what you can earn rewards▶ How do I register for the Rewards Program?
First become a member on the Thirsty Girl website www.thirstygirl.com (it’s FREE!) and then you will be prompted to link your Facebook account to your TG account and get started right away earning points towards prizes!▶ Do I have to register my Facebook account to participate in the Rewards Program?
At this time, yes. The Rewards Program is run by PunchTab™, a third party affiliate application that is run through Facebook and abides by the Facebook Terms of Service. In the future we may have an alternative method for rewarding through a manual system but for now we need to go through Facebook to adhere to legal obligations.
